The Little Giant Classic series of ladders is the original 24-in-1 ladder system from the highly regarded American manufacturer and the 3-rung model is the shortest available.Close up of the 3 rung Little Giant Ladder.  Although there may only be three rungs in the shortest step-ladder configuration, the legs extend to give a six-rung step ladder with a maximum height of 1.48 metres.  When fully extended as a straight ladder, the height of 3.04 metres is enough to reach the roofline of a bungalow or the bottom of the first floor windows of a two-storey home.

As with all Little Giant 24-in-1 ladders, the three-rung Classic can be used as a step ladder, 90-degree step ladder, straight extension ladder, stairway ladder and trestle for a work platform.  The 90-degree step ladder configuration is perfect for cleaning windows as the angle of the back legs gets you much closer to the window or wall than a standard A-frame step-ladder.  Cleaning ground floor windows, tending to hanging baskets and painting fences are a doddle with the 90-degree configuration.

The Perfect Indoors Ladder

The step ladder height is perfect for indoor tasks such as cleaning cupboards, decorating and painting, putting up paintings, organising high shelves and changing lightbulbs.  The sturdy construction and flared legs give so much stability to the ladder that even inexperienced ladder users will find it safe and comfortable to use.  Because of the flared legs this ladder is much more stable than conventional ones for use outdoors, on grass or other surfaces.  On soft surfaces you may want to use an additional weight-spreading device such as a ladder stop or even a ladder designed specifically for outdoor use, but for most summertime outdoor tasks the Little Giant Classic is perfect.  The super strong top hinge design means there is no need for spreader bars, so the ladder can be positioned over low garden walls and other obstacles such as raised beds.

The extension ladder height is ideal for bungalow owners, as it gives enough height to reach the guttering and roofline, allowing you to clear guttering and access a flat roof or provide access to a roof ladder for rooftop maintenance work.  The extension ladder configuration gives you heights of between 1.92 and 3.04 metres, reaching the windowsill of a first floor window.  This ladder will give you enough access to clean all the windows of a standard height home.

A man in a blue shirt reaches up to change a lightbulb. The Little Giant Classic ladder can be used on the stairs by dropping one side of the step ladder set up.  This is ideal for painting stairwells and changing light bulbs in stair ceilings.  It is also a very useful configuration for outdoors, as steps and other changes in surface level pose a problem for most other step ladders.  Maintenance on porches, verandahs and other situations where there is a change in level is a doddle with the stairway ladder setting.  The stairway ladder setting offers heights similar to the step ladder setting.

A work platform costing £129 is available to use with the Little Giant Classic range of ladders in the trestle configuration.  The three-rung model offers three trestle heights up to 95cm, providing a large, stable base for painting, decorating, pruning and cleaning.  The platform itself telescopes from six to nine feet in length and is 28cm wide.

The three rung Little Giant Classic ladder costs £139 including VAT and delivery, weighs just 12 kilos and stores down to 61cm wide by 1.09 metres tall, perfect for storing in a smaller home and in otherwise unusable spaces.  It is a ladder that will adapt to any function, and is also rated to EN131 for trade use, so it can be used by both professionals and DIYers alike.  With a 5-year warranty, this compact but highly functional ladder really cannot be beaten.
