Every year the Ladder Association run a competition looking for the biggest idiot on a Winner of the 2015 Ladder Idiot competitionladder. A strange competition we’re sure you would agree, but after a worrying amount of entries a winner has been selected and revealed to the British public.

The competition encouraged the public to share photographs of people inappropriately using a ladder and putting themselves in danger. We guess the aim of the competition is to shame those people who are risking their lives or injury by acting inappropriately on a ladder, whilst highlight to other how ladders shouldn’t be used.

Once the deadline had passed and all of the photos had been organised, the Ladder Association shared them online so the public could vote on who the biggest idiot on a ladder was.

The winning photo was shared by Mike Harris and showed a man balancing on three ladders whilst working on the roof of a property. An incredibly dangerous image that highlights everything you shouldn’t do whilst working on a ladder at height.

Gary Chudleigh, the Marketing and Communications Officer for the Ladder Association explained that this was a ‘prime example of how not to use ladders’ and continued by expressing the importance of proper ladder training.

Ladder Exchange has worked hard over the last few years to remove unsafe ladders from service. Worn and faulty ladders are a huge cause of accidents and thanks to the work by the Ladder Exchange, the risk of having accident because of a worn or faulty product is actively being reduced.

Ladder Exchange also actively encourage ladder users to think about safety when working at heights on ladders. Unfortunately numerous people have lost their life due to falling from a ladder and by shaming these inappropriate ladder users, hopefully more people will take better precautions when using ladders in the future.
