Ladders may be tools, but they can also be so much more than that. In fact, ladders have featured frequently in world record attempts, as people try to break the record for things like the longest ladder, and ladders balanced on their chins. Across the world, people have broken all sorts of interesting records with ladders and created some pretty amazing results. Take a look at some of the best ladder world records – they really are quite amazing.

  1. Longest time balancing an eight-foot ladder on its leg on a chin

In 2013, Brian Pankey broke his own record of 13.72 seconds for balancing a ladder on its leg on his chin. The new record was an absolutely amazing 55.85 seconds, which is a massive leap from his original number. This young American had a lot to feel proud of after his amazing feat. Stunts like this really show the strength and balance of a person.

  1. Most clubs juggled while balancing on an unsupported ladder

In Italy, on July 29th 2012, Emil Faltynek broke the record for the most clubs juggled while balancing on an unsupported ladder. She was able to juggle a fantastic six clubs while balancing on the two and a half metre ladder, completely unsupported. The video is fascinating yet tense to watch, and it is thoroughly recommended that you do!

  1. Longest time balanced on a closed folding ladder

This record goes to Dominic Pavicic for his 2009 time of 50.94 seconds. Balancing on top of a folding ladder for this length of time really was an incredible feat. While a dangerous stunt and certainly not one to try at home, it is still incredibly admirable and shows a great deal of coordination and strength.

  1. Most single leg squats performed on a step ladder in one minute

The Australians hold the record for this challenge at an impressive 18 single leg squats. This record for the most single squats performed on a step ladder in one minute was achieved last year by a gentleman called Stephen Robertson.

  1. Longest time balancing a three-step ladder on one foot while laying down

William C, from Scotland, achieved the record for the longest time balancing a three-step ladder on one food while laying down in May 2015. He was able to balance it for nine minutes and 32.16 seconds while lying on his back. That is some incredible leg strength!

  1. Fastest time transforming a step ladder to a chair

Doug McManaman from Canada holds the record for this interesting feat. In a mere 9.53 seconds he was able to turn a step ladder into a chair. It’s very impressive and the chair is fully functional – it doesn’t look bad either. A whacky yet intriguing record.

There are some bizarre records out there for ladders, but it just goes to show how many purposes this vital tool can have. It is great to see it providing people with so much fun and assisting them in breaking both whacky and impressive records.
