You will probably need a step ladder around the home to help decorate the tree and hang decorations up, but once you have done that, what other seasonal tasks might you use a step ladder for? The special Christmas tableware and tablecloth are stored somewhere, perhaps they are in the tall cupboard, on a high shelf or somewhere else you need extra height to get at? Pinning Christmas cards up around the house along with paperchains is also a task for a step ladder.
Ladders Helping with Christmas Dinner?
When serving Christmas dinner, you can use a step-ladder with wide treads to organize plates, serving utensils and side dishes without using up much space in the kitchen. The stepladder can also be used in the dining room to keep the table space free for centrepieces and plates. Some pretty seasonal napkins draped over the rungs and tinsel wrapped round the rails will help disguise the fact it's a functional step ladder instead of a purpose built serving tool. This is also a great idea for smaller homes where there is no set dining area, as a small table will do if the food can be arranged in tiers nearby. When it comes to dessert, the step-ladder comes in handy again, as cream, brandy butter, spoons, extra desserts and drinks can be arranged on the step ladder as well. If you don't have space for a Christmas tree and presents or don't want one in the house for weeks on end, you can decorate a stepladder with tinsel and baubles and use the steps to place presents on, perhaps one step per person? It can be folded up and stored behind a door when it's not being used and is ready at a moment's notice, so it's ideal for the smaller home. Fairy lights wrapped round a step ladder give a beautiful glow quite unlike that which you get from a normal Christmas tree, and because there are no branches, the lights glimmer off all the decorations. You can use drawing pins in an old wooden ladder and sellotape on a metal ladder (don't climb it when it's decorated though!) to attach decorations. A tripod step ladder works really well for this, as the extra space between rails and the third leg means more space for lights and other decorations.
Stepladders and Extra Guests
If you have guests coming to stay, a stepladder makes an excellent temporary bedside table, as each rung can be used for different items such as tissues, water glass, alarm clock etc… and a clip on lamp fits easily onto the side rails. The step ladder also plays a similar role in the bathroom, clearly denoting guest towels and toiletries. Short step ladders with a platform also come in handy as emergency seating for unexpected guests, you can even buy step ladders which double up as chairs for this very purpose and these are great multi purpose item in small kitchens! And when the festivities are over, the step ladder serves it's purpose once again to take down the decorations, un-festoon the tree and provide a place for a quick sit-down in between tasks. Of course, you might find that the stepladder has been so useful over the holidays that you find many more uses for it all year round, but if not, it will be there ready for next year. However you decide to use your ladder this festive season do it safely! And a big Merry Christmas from the Team at Midland Ladders.
