Ladders are important, and it is a known fact. Without them there is a lot that we could not reach, and many things we would not be able to do. Cats would remain stuck in trees, ceilings would go unpainted, and people would never be rescued from burning buildings. Ladders are so useful, in fact, that there are quite a few tales that could have been very different if ladders had been used. Here are five such stories that would have been different with ladders, and maybe even ended differently too.

  1. Goldilocks and the Three Bears

We all know the story of the little girl who entered the home of three bears while they were out, ate their food, and broke their furniture. Then she slept in their bed, unaware that they were returning home. Now, in the original story, Goldilocks is eaten by the three bears when she is found in baby bear's bed. However, if there was a ladder in the room that could have been put out of the window, she could have easily made a quick getaway and avoid being eaten. After all, bears are chunky and probably wouldn't have been able to fit through the window to give chase!

  1. Rapunzel

Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your hair, so I may climb your golden hair. Many of us are familiar with the story of Rapunzel, who was kept in a tower by the evil Dame Gothel, who keeps her away from everyone in a tower with no doors, stairs, and only one room. When a prince finds her after hearing her sing, he too climbs her hair so that he can rescue her. If Gothel and the prince had used ladders, they could have saved poor Rapunzel the pain of her hair being pulled so much, and her and the prince could have made a much faster getaway!

  1. Jack and the Beanstalk

After planting the magic beans, a huge beanstalk grows and leads Jack to the land of the giants which is filled with wealth beyond belief. Of course, he has the very dangerous task of climbing this beanstalk, which can be a little brittle at points. If he had grabbed a ladder and used it to climb up the beanstalk, it not only would have been faster (as it is a more direct route) but also a lot safer.

  1. The Hole

The 2001 film saw a group of students trapped in a hole and turning on each other. However, things could have been very different if they had come across a ladder and used it to escape. Of course, the plot may have been completely different had this happened, but it could have been just as interesting. Ladders are lifesavers after all.

  1. Game of Thrones

The Wall is pretty tall, and made from thick ice, which makes it difficult to climb. We already witnessed one failed attempt to climb it a few seasons back, and it could have been so much easier for them. By using a long ladder (or series of) they could have easily scaled the wall especially if they had used something like a loft ladder with the hooked top. If they had used a ladder, all those wildings would not have had to die. Alright maybe we're stretching it a bit with this one!
