It is that time of the month again, the time where we round up some of the weird and most a tablet on a kitchen table with the word News at the topwonderful ladder news stories we have come across from across the globe. In this first news article we head to the south west of England and visit the little town of Burnham on Sea. The title grabbed us straight away “Fire brigade rescue man trapped between rungs of a ladder”. We are not sure how this is even possible but not a position we would want to ever be in, we are sure you would agree. Clearly the person trapped has not come across our blogs and has missed out on some key ladder health and safety. In fact, stories like this one are exactly the reason we write our blog posts. We want to stop accidents like this from ever happening. So what exactly happened? Whilst working at a height on his ladder, the west country man became trapped between two rungs. The man who experienced this frightening ordeal was luckily rescued by the fire brigade on the first of August 2015 at around five twenty pm. The man in question was very lucky and did not gain any injuries. But the incident is sure to leave some harrowing memories. The fire brigade managed to lower the ladder and the trapped man to the floor in order to cut him free. The tools they used had to be quite small in order to ensure the man was not injured whilst they cut him free. This meant that the fire team took around twenty five minutes to free him. We are incredibly pleased to hear this man was not hurt in this incident, but do the fire brigade a favour and be incredibly careful when working on a ladder! In our next news story we look at a revolutionary new ladder that has been invented by farmers. Across the Atlantic Ocean in Iowa in the United States a pair of farmers have invented a new ladder that is set to revolutionise the way that farmers get on their combine harvesters. Currently for farmers, getting on a combine harvester is actually quite dangerous and difficult but thanks to Dave Bentley and Ron McDonald things are about to change. When farmers currently invest in a combine harvester they are supplied with a straight ladder. This means that the farmers are required to use both hands when making the climb. In an interview Ron McDonald vented his frustration by saying: “The combine is an expensive combine. Everything else is pretty nice on it. Why didn't they make a ladder A yellow combine harvester harvesting wheat against a blue sky.that was easier to get in the combines?” Older farmers notoriously have a difficult job getting on the combine, so this new invention is set to benefit them greatly. As everyone can imagine, being a farmer is an incredibly labour intensive job so many farmers across the globe have also had replacement surgeries. This new ladder is also set to help those farmers that also struggle to make their way up to the combine harvester because of these issues. Dave Bentley and Ron McDonald were old school friends who reconnected recently to invent the ladder. Bentley is in the construction industry and with McDonalds farming background they were quite an impressive and unstoppable duo. The team won a a contest with farming magazine which allowed their product production to begin. When they first designed and produced their E-Z ladder they didn't expect it to take off or gain interest but it has done the exact opposite. Each ladder comes with a price tag of one thousand eight hundred United States dollars and so far they have sold a few dozen. But they are struggling to keep up with the demand as they are currently only a two man operation. The two men aim to get the ladders all across the world, but with retirement approaching they are not pushing themselves too hard. They just want to help benefit the farming community and improve the way farmers get on their combine harvesters. The one thousand eight hundred price tag does include installation but for those that are not in the vicinity will need to install the ladder themselves. Not to fear though, the handy duo have also produced a helpful installation guide to make it much easier for those that have purchased the ladder from afar. Our third and final ladder story is back on home turf and in the thriving city of A burglar stands in front of a window with his hands in the air and a bag of swag.Manchester: Man drags burglar's ladder in through window before he gets chance to break in. Unfortunately we can't stop burglar's buying ladders, but if we could, of course we would. This brave and fast thinking man helped prevent his flat from being attacked by a burglar. A thief had rudely placed his ladder next to his window in order to climb into his flat. The man immediately called 999 after seeing two people stand next to the ladder. As the two men were chatting the man quickly pulled the ladder in through his window to protect him home and prevent them from climbing up. We honour this man's bravery and are incredibly glad to hear that him home was not robbed!
